If you have Facebook, you know what it’s like to get “notifications.” After a few hours have passed, if you check your phone it is very likely that you have a new Facebook notification. Maybe someone’s birthday is today; maybe someone posted in a group you’re in; maybe someone tagged you and 45 others in a post that you’re not even interested in; or maybe someone clicked like on one of your selfies, but you should get a notification after a few hours have passed.
When God saved us as a result of us putting our faith in His Son (The Lord Jesus Christ), He then put His Spirit in us to seal the deal and confirm our salvation. Now that you and I have the Holy Spirit living inside of us, we get notifications from God. He gives us news we can use. He tells us what He wants us to know and what He feels we need to know at a given time. He gives us notifications.
When you’re logged on to Facebook, you automatically get notifications. When you are a Christian, you automatically get notifications from the Holy Spirit that God wants you, as a child of His, to have.
God is all of our Creator, whether we are saved or not. If I log out of Facebook, I won’t get any notifications. However, there is an app called “Messenger” that allows me to receive a message directly to my cell phone – whether I’m logged on to Facebook or not. When I’m not logged on to Facebook, I don’t have to concern myself with Facebook notifications. However, I do realize it is possible for me to receive a message even though I’m logged off simply because I have installed the “Messenger App.”
One may be unsaved and disconnected from God, but much activity is still going on with God and the people of God. That person just isn’t getting the notifications. Believers are saying hallelujah! Believers are saying “God is awesome!” They’re getting notifications.
But do know this: Just like you can receive a message in Facebook through the “Messenger App” when you’re not logged in to Facebook, an unbeliever can receive a word from God even though he is not saved. God has put a type of “Messenger App” in everyone He created so that He can tell them to choose life or death.
“I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.” (Luke 13:3) Such messages come to unbelievers through God’s messenger app He installed in us.
